The Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office appoints over 1000 diverse workers to work at over 90 precincts county-wide during Election periods. Bi-lingual speakers (English/Spanish) are an additional asset to the Elections process. By becoming an Election Worker, you show you care about your community, are supporting our Republic, and are helping ensure all voices are heard. We encourage you to consider joining us in making a positive voting experience for the voters of Lake County. Thank you for your consideration in joining our team.

Basic Requirements of an Election Worker

  • Be a registered voter in Lake County.

  • Read, write, and speak the English Language. Bi-lingual speakers (English/Spanish) are an additional asset in serving at polling locations.

  • Successfully complete ALL REQUIRED online and in-person training and assessments before each Election.

  • Be able to work up to a 14-hour day, demonstrating patience and courtesy at all times to other team members and voters.

  • Election Workers start their day at their polling place on Election Day from 6 a.m. until the last voter has voted and closing procedures have been completed. An Election Worker may have to stay until after 8 p.m. in some circumstances. 

  • Be able to lift voting equipment and supplies as needed. 

  • Have an email address.

  • Have access to the internet via a computer or smart phone/tablet.

  • Have reliable transportation (not public transportation).

  • Remain nonpartisan while working at a polling location.

  • Refrain from any divisive comments or discussions concerning a voter, a voter's party preference, a candidate, or issue while working at a polling location.

  • Abide by a no smoking policy on Election Day.

  • Demonstrate dignity and respect at all times.

Information Sessions

We are always searching for committed, professional and courteous individuals who are willing to learn how to assist voters in the Elections process. Election Workers play a key role in helping meet OUR COMMITMENTS of:

To be considered as an Election Worker, participation in an information session is a must! Your attendance in a session will provide you with invaluable insights as to whether becoming an Election Worker is a right fit for you. You'll receive detailed information on the responsibilities and expectations of an Election Worker.

We offer both virtual (select the button below) and in-person information sessions. In-person sessions are; scheduled at various times throughout the year, an hour long, and held at assorted locations throughout the county.
